GIVEAWAY! (Yes, that's right.) Trios by Fisher Price
>> Thursday, September 16, 2010
It's been too, too long my friends. So, the time has come for a GIVEAWAY!
First, you'll have to indulge my ramblings as to a PRODUCT REVIEW and then we'll do the GIVEAWAY!
I know, exciting, right?
So, ever since Erin wrote about Child's Play and the "need" for lots of toys and what TYPES of toys, I've seriously thought about the things my kids play with. Like most families, we have too many toys. We've been editing and still the toy box overflows with things that will go weeks without getting looked at.
There are two toy bins, though, that get played with, every single day. The one we're talking about today is our TRIOS. (Our superheros get played with daily too, but that's another day...)
From The Diet Coke Diet |
Trios are made by Fisher-Price and are a NOT made by Lego. But frankly, they are kind of similar. Trios are great for preschoolers because they are capable of more complex design than a Duplo and are a nice hearty size. They are all square or square-ish and yet still manage to produce endless possibilities for creative design.
Another reason we love them at our house is they are moveable. We have wooden blocks as well, but they don't get the same play-time because wooden blocks must stay where you build them. Trios click together to form all kinds of fabulous cars, castles, robots, etc and unless they are HUGE, a kid can pick them up and play with them/ show them off.
Thirdly, Trios come in various "kits" for different types of kids. My kids are super little, so while we own several of the "kits" nothing designed by Fisher-Price ever gets created around here. The kit directions are long gone, but the fun remains. This, of course is also due to my kids' personalities. If your kid thrives on creating what he or she sees on the box, then there are kits galore! The harder kits go up to age 9, so there is a challenge in there for even slightly bigger kids. The earliest recommended age is 4, but like I said, if your kid is younger than that, they can still play with and create with Trios.
From The Diet Coke Diet |
Finally, they are large and chunky enough not to be a choking hazard. I mean, I suppose if a kid was REALLY determined to swallow a piece they could... but it'd be a challenge.
On the whole "plastic toys are bad" front. Meh. I think creative play is so so so important. I also think that as parents you do what you think is right for your kids. For the record, the fact that Trios are plastic is no problemo, for us. In fact, like I mentioned above, it makes it so they stay together and give a ton of versatility to a kids' creative needs.

Did I mention there are even PINK BUILDING SETS??? I know. It's so cool!
Now the GIVEAWAY! (OH SO FUN!)
So, we're giving away TWO basic sets.
From The Diet Coke Diet |
They are a great way to start your child's Trios adventures. If you have kids, grand kids, nieces, nephews, kids you babysit for, whomever, I think they will LOVE these. Consider it a very early Christmas present.

Oh my goodness those are so awesome! I've never heard of them! AAAH! Love them! I have a kid's birthday coming up that those would be perfect for. Granted it's a girl's birthday, but she still loves to build. I love the fact that they are less of a choking hazard than Legos, with an infant that's fabulous!
"I love you and already follow you!"
"I love you and already am a friend on Facebook!"
P.S. I have a link to your website via my blog!
I think I'm subscribed to you already.
P.P.S. Where can I find those for sale? I hope to win!--but if not I may look to buying some if I can find them in "Small town America"
YAY! Those are so neat. I just saw the pink ones and I seriously think that's what I'm getting Gracie for Christmas. Heck I may get them all a set! Lego's have been banned at our house too many tiny pieces and well even the duplos are dangerous, Tod stepped on one once and sliced his foot open, yeah so we don't do legos.... yet.
I love you the mostest of course, I already Follow you!
And I love you so much you're my friend twice on Facebook!

I really hope to get these. They are just so fun! I think I did everything on the list. :P I agree with you Morgan on the plastics issue. I just mostly try to stay away from plastics in our food/eatery-ish stuff. That just makes a little more sense to me. Stuff that is designed to help put food into the body should not be plastic. It is that simple. :D
My daughter's birthday is next month so of course I would love to win!

I subscribe via RSS.
From the grandma who actually purchased the trios (at Morgan's suggestion) and as a school teacher of young kids (first grade) I heartily endorse them. They click together and come apart easily, as we found out when Oliver smacked the dog on the head with them and they did separate.)
They also encourage lots of creativity because while boys may build robots, vehicles and weapons (horror, but that's what they do, they are hardwired that way, so deal!) girls will make 'houses' and 'beds for their 'dolls' and flowers and other things. Trust me on this, they all build, they just build differently.
It's worth it.
